Dr Bike

The next Dr Bike event is being planned for later in the year. Please keep an eye on this site and social media for announcements. In the meantime, please consider our regular Bike Kitchen, every Saturday 11.00-12.30 at The Swan in Clewer. See details on the Bike Kitchen page.

Free, book-able bike checks designed to keep people’s bikes in safe and reliable condition.

Space is limited and, unlike the Saturday Bike Kitchen we run for minor repairs and safety checks, booking is essential.  The link below will take you to a page where a booking request can be made.  Please provide as much information about the bike as possible so we can judge how much work it will require.

We will get back to you by email to confirm the reservation.  If we are unable to fit you in on the day we will add your name to the waiting list and contact you later.  Please keep checking back here or on our social media about the next event. We plan to run our next Dr Bike in about a month’s time. Follow up enquiries can be made to DrBike@windsorcyclehub.org

The mechanics spend approximately 45 mins on each bike, carrying out a light service and where necessary replacing consumable parts, and carrying out minor repairs.  Bikes need to be brought in between 8:00am and 9:00am and owners will be notified by text or phone to advise them when their bikes are ready for collection in the afternoon.

We check and adjust:

  • Brakes – calliper and cable adjustment, cable, and (if necessary) block replacement

  • Gears – indexing check and adjust and (if necessary) cable replacement

  • Chain – check for wear, lubricate if necessary

  • Tyres – puncture repair, inflated to recommended pressure (psi).

  • Plus – check nuts and bolts are secure; check headset and bottom bracket; check and replace missing bar plugs/cable end caps.

When the work has been completed you’ll receive a report detailing all the work carried out on your bike and any “advisory” work that is beyond the scope of Dr Bike.

To help our qualified mechanics check as many bikes as possible, we ask that owners please ensure bikes are clean for the checks.  We may refuse or ask you to clean particularly dirty bikes..
