Bike Kitchen

Want help with puncture repair, gear lubrication, tyres pumping up, a safety check, or just a chat about anything bike–related? Pop down to The Swan on any Saturday and we’ll be happy to help.
As it’s a free service (donations are welcome, we use them to pay for parts) we can get VERY busy, especially when the weather’s nice – so please book in advance to avoid disappointment (or visit when it’s overcast, damp or cold). There’s a booking form below.

We also offer free* bike security marking and advice on how to lock cycles properly.
*With the national Bike Register, worth £13 – donations welcome.

Good things come to those who wait

When the sun’s out it’s not uncommon to have at least 1 hour’s wait before we get to your bike. Sometimes, if you haven’t got a booking, we may ask you to come back the following week.

The good news is that The Swan is an award-winning community pub, so you can always enjoy a drink, a snack and a chat while you wait.

Skills for Life

Knowing how to maintain and fix your own bike is a life skill. In addition to showing you the basics, we’ll also advise on the essential kit you need at home.

If you’ve got a few bikes, we recommend that you buy a floor standing ‘track-pump’ – like the ones we use. Our local bike shops and Halfords sell them. Whilst you’re there, don’t forget to buy some chain lube, GT85 spray, Allen keys, tyre levers and spare inner tubes.
